On June 30, 2021, Professor Susan J. Pharr steps down as a Senior Scholar of the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies due to her retirement from the faculty at Harvard University. Professor Pharr has been a Senior Scholar since AY1993
–1994 and she will continue at Harvard University as the Edwin O. Reischauer Research Professor of Japanese Politics. Congratulations to Professor Pharr on her retirement.
