## Harvard Academy Scholars, 1986–2025

The purpose of the Academy Scholars Program is to identify exceptional early-career researchers whose work combines excellence in the social sciences (including history and law) with a deep grounding in a particular country or region. Since 1986, the Academy Scholars Program has produced 179 social scientists and seventeen graduate fellows from a wide variety of backgrounds, all with significant regional expertise outside of the United States or Canada. (Since 2022 we have allowed applications from those who study western Europe, which was not previously the case; note that statistics for Europe include only eastern Europe until that year.)
